The redundancy exercise within Telecom Fiji Limited to lay off 177 workers around the country will be completed by this afternoon with some spending their last day at work today.
TFL acting CEO Sakeasi Seru confirmed to Fijivillage that the last redundancy letters are being issued today with the redundancy phase of their restructure plans to be concluded by end of business today.
Seru will call a press conference early next week to inform customers and stakeholders on the progress of the reforms being undertaken by TFL.
Telecom Fiji earlier stressed that all employees whose positions have been affected have freely accepted a redundancy package, which includes an immediate exit from the company, however the exact details of this package remains confidential between the two parties.
Meanwhile, the Post and Telecom Workers Union is expected to make further submissions to the Chief Tribunal regarding TFL making its 135 members redundant.
The Union maintains that it did not agree to the redundancy packages issued to the 177 workers who have been laid off.
