Three new vaccines have been introduced to the Health Ministry's current immunization program.
This follows cabinets endorsement based on a submission by the Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma which are mainly vaccines for children under five years and 12 to 14 year old girls.
Dr Sharma said currently Fijian children are protected against nine serious infectious diseases such as measles, whooping coughs, rubella and tuberculosis.
He added immunization is considered one of the most important cost effective public health interventions for the protection of children and women’s health.
