615,000 tonnes of cane forecast to be crushed in Labasa

The Fiji Sugar Corporation forecasts that the sugarcane to be crushed this season by the Labasa Mill is approximately 615,000 tonnes.
Executive chairman Abdul Khan said this is the forecast for the mill for mid June as it looks forward to a positive season.
Khan says the Labasa Sugar Mill is also going through the normal process of repair and maintenance so that the mill is ready for the coming cane processing season.
He added that the rail system is also undergoing maintenance and repair.
Meanwhile, the Acting Commissioner Northern Alipate Bolalevu said they will work together before the harvesting and crushing season and look into each sugarcane sectors.
