A mother of four has died after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband this morning in Naisaumua Village, Verata Tailevu.
This has been confirmed by Police.
Speaking to Fijivillage this morning, a Naisaumua villager said the incident took place around 6 this morning where the woman was allegedly stabbed on a small bridge and then pushed into the water.
According to the villager, the man had been released from prison two weeks before Christmas.
The villager added that the husband had been threatening his wife and that when the stabbing took place, two of the victims cousins were close by when they started shouting to alert the village.
The husband then fled the scene.
The Naisaumua villager said the victims four children are currently safe with their mother's brother.
Police have managed to ascertain the identity of the prime suspect and are currently at the scene conducting investigations.
