Inspections are now expected to be carried out on bulk stores of supermarkets to ensure they comply with fire requirements.
The inspection is expected to be carried out by the National Fire Authority following the recent incidents of two supermarkets which were destroyed by fire.
Chief executive officer John O'Connor said relevant recommendations will be made to the operators so that they comply with the NFA's fire safety requirement which will stop the spread of fires from the bulk to other areas of the supermarket.
Meanwhile, the NFA is still trying to establish the cause of fire which destroyed a prominent supermarket in Tavua on Sunday night.
