No action will be taken against scrap metal thieves who have stolen millions of dollars worth of the country's infrastructure and sold them to scrap metal businesses.
This is according to Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki.
Cawaki said however now with the enforcement of the Scrap Metal Decree, anyone caught not complying will face a 5 year imprisonment or a $10,000 fine.
Meanwhile, an inspection team will be out next Thursday and Friday to ensure scrap metal businesses abide by the decree.
