The Public Service Commission is currently working on sending 9 retired teachers to Tuvalu under the Fiji Volunteer Scheme (FVS).
PSC Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said the Fiji Volunteer Scheme has been growing since it started in March 2012.
He stressed the volunteering is not only about retired teachers but the deployment of expertise in other fields such as climate change, environment, health, sanitation and disaster management.
He said currently there are 18 teachers in the Marshall Islands, 12 under the FVS and six under their own funding arrangement.
He added other teachers are serving in Nauru and Vanuatu.
$1million has been allocated this year and PSC hopes the scheme would be broadened to cover young professional and experienced personnel.
