Dunaden and Tres Blue will be allowed to run in the Melbourne Cup despite receiving treatment this morning in an apparent breach of racing rules.
Stewards spoke to the connections of both horses and were satisfied they had not received any prohibited substance, however an inquiry into the incident has been adjourned.
The controversy is dominating discussions leading up to the 6.2 Australian million dollars Cup race at 5pm today, for which Fiorente is expected to start favourite for Gai Waterhouse, who also trains Tres Blue.
Owner Lloyd Williams will line up a quarter of the field, including reigning champion Green Moon, while there are nine overseas-trained runners, headed by French horse, Verema and English galloper Mount Athos.
More than 100,000 will be trackside at Flemington, but millions will be glued to their television sets to watch the great race.
