Permanent Secretary for Agriculture, Mason Smith has resigned from his post.
Smith handed in his resignation yesterday and it was accepted by the Public Service Commission yesterday.
He said that he left the military in 2007 and is now leaving the government to join the private sector.
Smith said that he wants a new challenge however he will still contribute towards the country's growth and well-being.
He said that the focus now is to clear the government quarters, take a short break in Savusavu before starting work again.
