Mara, Driti charged and appear in court

Former Land Force Commander Brigadier General Pita Driti and former Commander of the 3FIR Unit Colonel Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara appeared before Suva Magistrate Alofa Seruvatu in the last hour.
Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara appeared first and faces one count of uttering seditious comments under Section 67 of the Crimes Decree.
He has been released on $2,000 bail with no surety.
Mara’s lawyer is Devinesh Sharma while Driti’s legal counsel is Filimoni Vosarogo.
Driti just appeared a few minutes ago and he faces two counts of uttering seditious comments and one count of inciting mutiny.
He has been released on bail.
Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges and they have been told to surrender their passports and not to interfere with any witnesses.
They will reappear in court on the 1st June.
