The actual torch that was used by Muhammed Ali in the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996 will be carried around Fiji as the world's biggest secondary school's athletics competition countdown has started after the lighting of the torch for the relay.
For the first time ever, secondary schools in Ovalau, Kadavu and Taveuni will get to be part of the torch relay which starts on Monday from Nasinu Secondary school as athletes, parents, supporters and old scholars gear up for the Coca-Cola Games.
178 selected students from 77 schools will take part in the relay as the symbolic torch is carried thorough villages, schools and towns around Fiji.
Coca-Cola games chief organizer Vuli Waqa said the torch relay is a significant part of the annual event.
Coca-Cola Amatil Marketing Manager Lawrence Tikaram said they want to share this moment with everyone.
The national torch relay will start on Monday on it's 13 days journey before defending champions Marist Brothers High School and Jasper Williams High School complete the run on April 25th which is also the opening day of the Coca-Cola Games.
