Following the devastation of the floods some parts of the west are reporting cleaning up as their main focus.

At least 100 market vendors in Sigatoka town have been affected by the recent flood.

Sigatoka Town Council CEO Anand Pillay confirmed that the town is fully operational yet the market currently faces a shortage of fruits and vegetables.

Meanwhile, Soldiers are taking people back to the Sigatoka Andra Sangam evacuation centre, as these people tried to move back in without a Ministry of Health clearance.

Village headman Peniasi Vakili added that keeping the villagers at the evacuation centers will better protect them from health risks given the conditions of their homes.

According to special administrator Nadi town Aisea Tuidraki today the military will assist shopkeepers in cleaning up the main Nadi business area.

Huge debris including trees and cars that were swept into the town have since been cleared away.

He hopes that if things go according to plan with no changes to the weather the town will open for business again by the end of the week.

The road through main Nadi town is still closed to traffic.

With many shop windows destroyed by the force of the floodwaters he said police and the military will continue patrolling to contain looting.

Nadi town still has no water and power is still out.
