The Kingdom of Tonga still maintains its stand to support Fiji to be included in the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum.
Those are the words of Tonga’s Land Minister Lord Ma’afu who spoke to our reporter Tokasa Rainima at the Engaging with the Pacific meeting in Nadi.
Lord Ma’afu said Tonga and Fiji are neighbors and have a very good relationship for so long.
The Tongan Lands Minister added that the fact that Fugitive Ratu Tevita Mara is now in Tonga, will not deter them from supporting Fiji.
According to Ma’afu, when he came to the meeting yesterday he told Fiji’s Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, that they are grateful that Fiji included them in the meeting.
When asked why Tongan Prime Minister did not attend the meeting, Ma’afu said he has other commitments and could not come however he will be available for the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum in Auckland next week.
The Engaging with the Pacific meeting ends today.
