High visibility wristbands were today first received by students of Yat Sen Primary School during the launch of road safety wristbands.
With at least one road death a week, LTA Manager Road Safety, Timoci Satakala said the majority of accidents concerning children are caused due to pedestrian-driver visibility.
The high visibility wristbands that will be distributed to primary schools around the country are part of the Decade of Action For Road Safety 2011-2020 that was launched in May.
It is projected that by 2020 if nothing is done to curb road accidents, at the current rate it will become the third most major cause of death in the world.
