Labasa soccer in crisis 25 September
Things are not looking good for the defending champions of the Courts IDC, Labasa as less than three weeks remain for the tournament to kick off in Ba.
Labasa has lost three consecutive matches in the National soccer league in just a week including one against minnows Savusavu by 3-nil.
The two other losses came against Suva and Lautoka over the weekend.
A senior player, Pita Bolaitoga has revealed to Fijivillage that they are not aware what is happening as the newly appointed coach, Ivor Evans is not showing up.
He added the players have now been told that former coach, Bal Sanju Reddy will take over the team.
The Courts IDC kicks off on the 10th of next month at Govind Park and Labasa is pooled with Lautoka, Tavua, Navua and Nadroga.

Savusavu likely to play in promotion relegation 24 September
Savusavu soccer team is expected to play in the promotion relegation series after losing their final National League match against Nadroga by 3 goals to 1 yesterday afternoon.
National League Board Secretary Jainendra Sukhu said that Savusavu finished last on the League table with nine points and whether or not Savusavu plays in this series will be decided in Fiji FA’s Annual General Meeting next month.
Sukhu added this was due to the proposal made by the National Soccer League sponsors that there will only be eight teams next season.
Meanwhile, in other matches yesterday Navua beat Tavua 1-0, Suva defeated Labasa 2-1 while Lautoka edged Rewa 1-0.
Ba has won the league title with 45 points while Suva finished second with 41 points.

Nadi relishes confidence 23 September
Nadi will relish in confidence ahead of the Inter District Championship next month after a clinical 3-1 victory in their National Soccer League match over Savusavu last night.
Temesi Tuwai was the hero for the Nadi side as he scored two goals in the second half while Ilimotama Jese scored in the first half.
Meanwhile Savusavu is in the verge of playing in the promotion and relegation after the loss.

New format expected in NSL 22 September
A new format is expected in the National Soccer League next year after a National League Board meeting today.
Chairman of National League Board Sheik Ibrahim said that sponsors CJ Patel and Company requested for only eight teams in the Super premier division next year as this would draw more fans during game time.
Ibrahim added that nothing has been finalised as the final decision will come in the AGM during the Inter District Championship.

Ba beats Nadi, on track for title 08 September
The Ba soccer team is on track to win its 18th National Soccer League title after a 1-0 win over Nadi last night.
Midfielder Avinesh Waran Suwany scored the lone goal for the Men-in-Black through a spot kick in the second half.
Ba now has extended their lead to 39 points on the table while Suva is second with 33 points.
Ba now has matches remaining against Tavua and Suva which will be played next week.
Meanwhile, tomorrow Suva will play Lautoka, Nadroga will face Nadi and Rewa takes on Navua.

Now or never for Nadi 07 September
It is now or never for the Nadi soccer team as they get ready to clash with Ba in the crucial National Soccer League match tonight.
Nadi has won this prestigious title eight times, the last in 2000.
After 12 years, the jetsetters look good to win the league title as they have four matches remaining and look good in the current form.
But first, Nadi needs to beat Ba at any cost tonight as the Men-in-Black lead the points table with 36 points while Nadi has 31 points.

Ba will miss its top striker Osea Vakatalesau tonight against Nadi in the crucial National Soccer League match.
Vakatalesau, who scored against Lautoka on Wednesday, is carrying two yellow cards to his name and will have to miss a match.
This match will certainly live up to expectation as both teams are chasing the league title and will do all they can not to drop points.

Some nail-biting matches remain in the National Soccer League competition which will decide this year’s winner.
Ba, Suva, Nadi are the teams in chasing the league title.
Ba leads the points table with 36 points and has three matches remaining.
Suva is second on the table with 33 points and also has three matches remaining.
Nadi is third with 31 points and has four matches remaining, one against Ba tonight.

Ba to look at goal scoring opportunities 06 September
The Ba soccer team has to relook at their goal scoring area if they want to clinch their 16th National League title.
The men-in-black missed a number of golden opportunities in last night’s National Soccer League match against Lautoka.
The match ended in a 1-all draw as Ba players like Osea Vakatalesau, Rinal Prasad, Avinesh Waran Suwamy and Abbu Zahid were off target on most occasions.
Ba missed crucial points against Lautoka and Suva last Sunday as both matches also ended in a draw.

The 10-man Lautoka side denied Ba their much needed win in last night’s National Soccer League match as the two sides ended in a one-all draw.
Ba scored first through Osea Vakatalesau in the first half.
However, Nigerian striker Kenneth Oneyama equalized for Lautoka in the second half.
Lautoka’s Peni Finau was given the marching orders after copping a second yellow card in the second half.
Ba still leads the National League table with 36 points after playing 15 matches with Suva in second position with 33 points.

Labasa sacks coach after shock loss 03 September
The Labasa Soccer Team has sacked their coach Epeli Levaci after their shocking loss to Savusavu in the National Soccer League yesterday by three goals to nil.
Association Secretary, Nilesh Lal said Savusavu was the better team yesterday and Labasa has now decided to appoint former Labasa and national team player Ivor Evans as their new coach.
Meanwhile, Savusavu Soccer’s Interim President Bhupendra Narayan said fitness level in his team and home support was the key to their success.
Narayan added Savusavu has also aimed to do wonders in the Courts IDC next month.

The Ba soccer side still leads the National Soccer League points table even after their one-all draw with Suva yesterday.
Ba has 35 points while Suva is still in second place with 33 points.

Nadroga beats Rewa 01 September
Nadroga has bounced back in style as they beat Rewa 3-2 in the National Soccer League match at Lawaqa Park.
Nadroga was walloped by Ba 12-1 two weeks ago.
However, Nadroga’s goals were scored by Waisea Tale Junior, Wallas Bali and Akuila while Rewa scored through a penalty in the second half and Sakeo Balevou scored their second goal.

Suva aim to overtake Ba on NSL table 31 August
What happened in the final of the Vodafone Fiji FACT will be repeated this Sunday at Ratu Cakobau Park when Suva takes on Ba in the National Soccer League competition.
That is the word from Suva Soccer President, Mahendra Prasad as the Capital City side prepares to topple Ba who sit first on the points table with 34 points.

FFA wants League completed next month 30 August
The Fiji Football Association hopes to complete the National Soccer League matches next month.
League Board secretary Jainendra Sukhu said their aim is to complete all matches by 23rd September so that soccer districts have enough time to prepare for the IDC in October.
League leaders Ba has the most games left, five matches to play followed by Suva who has four matches.

Police probe match fixing claim 29 August
Police have today confirmed they are investigating an alleged case of match fixing between Premier soccer teams Tailevu-Naitasiri and Levuka.
Tailevu-Naitasiri thrashed Levuka 22-1 last month in a Premier league match after which some spectators took the matter to Police alleging the match was fixed.
Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro confirms CID officers are investigating the matter.
We asked the parent soccer body, Fiji Football Association if they have carried out an investigation into the matter, and CEO Bob Kumar said they have completed their internal investigation.
Kumar said they have received the outcome but will not reveal it as it may interfere with Police investigations.

Districts back to full strength 28 August
Top soccer teams in the country will be back to full force for the National Soccer League after the return of their key players who were in the national team.
For the past two weeks the team was in camp.

Labasa soccer president resigns 20 Aug 2012
The Labasa Soccer Association is again facing problems as interim president Bhim Raj Reddy has resigned.
Reddy told Fijivillage that he is finding difficulty in calling the Annual General Meeting for Labasa soccer as only one club is registered with the Association.
He confirmed they need 10 registered clubs to call an AGM.
He added the accounts are also not in order.
He said they have not received the takings for the Battle of the Giants from Fiji Football Association.
He added Fiji FA has told him that the money will only be given to elected officials.
Fiji FA CEO Bob Kumar had confirmed receiving the resignation letter from Reddy and confirmed that the BOG’s takings will only be given to elected officials.

Rewa soccer has filed a protest against Tavua in the National soccer league competition.
Fiji Football Association Chief Executive Officer, Bob Kumar said Rewa who lost the match 3-nil are claiming that Tavua fielded a player who was not cleared to play.

Nadi rated top contender 10 July 2012
Five time Battle of the Giants champions Nadi is being rated as one of the top contenders to win the tournament.
Riding high and unbeaten in the last six matches in the National Soccer League competition and also sitting at the top of the points table with 27 points, Nadi looks good to win the Inkk Mobile BOG after a long 16 years.
They last won a tournament in 2002 which was the IDC in Ba.

Tavua upsets Rewa, Nadi leads 09 July 2012
Nadi remains on top of the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Soccer League League points table with 27 points after they drew nil-all with Navua at Thompson Park this afternoon.
Bad ground conditions prevented Nadi from scoring goals while Navua put on a brilliant show for their home fans.

Suva beats Rewa 01 July 2012
It was ‘dejavu’ for the Rewa team after losing to Suva 3-0 in the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Soccer League match at Ratu Cakobau Park.
Rewa with the services of experienced defenders Lorima Dau and Marika Rodu were trying to avenge their 1-0 loss to Suva in the first round, however a red card in the second half to Rewa’s Semi Dileqa did not help their cause.
Goals from Luke Haratea, Joseph Misra and Nathan Shivam upset the hearts of the Rewa fans as Suva did not look back leading 1-0 until the red card was given.
Meanwhile the Savusavu and Navua match is currently underway and both teams are still locked at nil-all.

Nadi still leads the National Soccer League table with 23 points.
The Jet setters defeated Labasa 3-0 on Saturday to maintain their lead from last week.
Lautoka is second and Ba third with 22 points.
Suva is now on forth position with 19 points after defeating Navua 1-0 last night.
Lautoka walloped Savusavu 5-0 while Ba beat Rewa 2-0 yesterday.
In the other match Nadroga edged Labasa 4-3.

Ba defeats Rewa 24 June 2012
Ba defeated Rewa 2-0 in the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Soccer League match at Ratu Cakabau Park.
Osea Vakatalesau opened the scoring in the 39th minute of the first half and Aisea Codro added the second goal in the second minute of the second half.
In the other match, Lautoka thrashed Savusavu 5-0 with Valerio Nawatu scoring the hat-trick.
Nadroga managed to win at home beating Labasa 4-3.
Navua will clash with Suva at Ratu Cakabau Park at 6pm.
Nadi leads the points table with 23 points followed by Lautoka and Ba with 22 points.

Suva-Savusavu match postponed 23 June 2012
The Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Soccer League match between Suva and Savusavu was postponed last night due to power disruptions.
League Board Secretary, Jainendra Sukhu said that power supply was back to normal around 9pm however Savusavu refused to play saying their players were tired.
Sukhu said Savusavu were given two options last night, either to play or travel on their own expenses to play Suva later.
They agreed with the second option.

One lifeline for Nadroga soccer 18 June 2012
The Nadroga soccer team has only one lifeline left to play in the Inkk Mobile BOG.
Nadroga sits second last on the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Soccer League points table with three points and now needs to beat Nadi this Thursday at any cost.
Apart from this match, Nadroga is also hoping that its protest against Tavua goes in their favor which can keep them in the top eight.
The Nadroga soccer team’s top four players will not be playing against Nadi tonight in the crucial Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Soccer League match.

Nadroga and Savusavu soccer teams may not feature in the Innk Mobile Battle of the Giants this year after they failed to secure their top eight position in the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Soccer League .
Fiji FA had decided earlier that only eight teams will play in the BOG.
In the National League match yesterday Savusavu and Nadroga drew one-all.
Savusavu now sit at the bottom of the table with two points while Nadroga has three points.

Nadi upset Suva in NSL 03 June 2012
Nadi’s Ratu Josefata Dugucagi’s goal has upset Suva in the National Soccer League at Ratu Cakobau Park in the last hour despite the Suva team coming into the match with confidence of the recent Fact title win.
Dugucagi’s goal came in the eight minute of the second half and despite Nadi down to 10 players in the dying stages of the game, they held on to a memorable 1-nil victory over Suva.

Suva are favourites to win against Nadi this afternoon after winning the Fiji FACT last week despite missing some of key players.

Suva in a must win situation 30 April 2012
The Suva soccer team may lose its number one spot in the National Soccer League Competition if they fail to win their match against Nadi this weekend.
Suva has only 16 points and if Ba manages to win both matches against Labasa and Savusavu, they will take the lead with 18 points.
Ba will take on Labasa on Saturday at Govind Park while Tavua will face Savusavu at Fiji FA Academy Grounds, both matches are scheduled for 1:30pm.
On Sunday at 1pm Tavua hosts Labasa while at 2pm Ba take on Savusavu at Govind Park.
Rewa will host Lautoka at 2pm at Ratu Cakobau Park while Suva will take on Nadi at 5pm at the same venue.

Ba gains maximum points from weekend matches 30 April 2012
The Ba soccer team has managed to gain six points from two National Soccer League matches last weekend.
The Men-in-black has climbed to fourth position with 12 points after they defeated Lautoka 2-1 yesterday and thrashed Tavua 4-0 on Friday.
Ba has so far played only four matches.
Meanwhile, Suva who has played seven matches still leads the points table with 16 points.
In two other matches played yesterday, Nadi defeated Tavua 1-0 and Navua beat Nadroga 2-0.

10 men Ba beat Lautoka 29 April 2012
A 10 men Ba team managed to beat Lautoka 2-1 in a thrilling National Soccer League match this afternoon in Churchill Park.
Marika Madigi was given the marching orders 35 minutes into the first half.
The Men in Black opened the scoring sheet in the second half but minutes later the Blues replied.
A penalty was later awarded to Ba when Roneel Kumar was fouled by Simione Tamanisau which Avinesh Waran scored the winner for Ba.
In other results, Nadi beat Tavua 1-0 while Navua beat Nadroga 2-nil.

Ba and Lautoka soccer team will use today’s National Soccer League match as a build up towards Vodafone Fiji FACT.

The Lautoka soccer team has ended Suva’s unbeaten run in the National Soccer League after they won the match by two goals to one this afternoon.
Host Lautoka managed to score first in the dying moments of the first half through Dave Ragigidai however Suva’s Nathan Shivan equalised just before half time.
Semesa Nakosia scored the winning goal through a free kick in the early stage of the 2nd half.

Defender, Poasa Bainivalu and stylish midfielder, Alvin Avinesh have not been cleared by the Fiji Football Association as yet.

Lautoka awaits Fiji FA decision 13 April 2012
The Lautoka soccer team is hoping for a favorable decision from the Fiji Football Association in relation to two of its players.
Poasa Bainivalu and Alvin Avinesh are training with the Blues but these two players cannot play until the Fiji FA clears them.
Bainivalu is having problems with his transfer application where he had filed a late withdrawal to stay with Lautoka.
Alvin Avinesh who is a former Labasa player has served his suspension with the Babasiga Lions and is likely to play for Lautoka.

Rewa drops bombshell 13 April 2012
Just weeks away from the Vodafone Fiji Fact and the defending champions, Rewa have dropped a bombshell.
Rewa has booted out midfielder, Kelepi Qaqa from its squad due to his unprofessional behavior.
This is a big blow to the Delta Tigers campaign to defend their title at home as according to the team officials, a few more players are on the verge of being dropped due to ill discipline.
Rewa is pooled with Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Savusavu in the Vodafone Fiji Fact.
The first round of the matches will be played on the 6th of next month at Churchill Park while the tournament officially will kick off on the 10th at Ratu Cakobau park.

Former Labasa players to make Rewa debut 12 April 2012
Two former Labasa soccer players will make their debut for Rewa this week in the National Soccer League competition.
Ilisoni Logaivou and Kavaia Rawaqa switched districts in the transfer window but have not been able to play for the Delta Tigers till now due to national team commitments.
Along with these two players, Peniame Drova and Misaele Draunibaka will also be featuring for Rewa this week after finishing their duties with the National Under 23 team.

NSL matches postponed 02 April 2012
The National Soccer League matches this week have been postponed.
Fiji Football Association league board secretary, Jainendra Sukhu confirmed some players and their family members have been directly affected by the floods in Western Division.
He added they have no alternative but to postpone Ba vs Tavua and Nadroga vs Navua matches to a later date.
Sukhu said their prayers are with all those affected by the Mother Nature and pray for their quick recovery.

Lautoka thrash Savusavu 24 March 2012
National goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau scored two goals for Lautoka as they beat hosts Savusavu 5-0.
The former Rewa captain was in devastating form in the strikers position.
Kamal Hassan netted two goals also for the sugar city side to lead 4-0 at half time before Maika Waqa scored another goal through penalty in the second half.
Lautoka will try to repeat their performance against Labasa tomorrow at 1:30pm at Subrail Park.

A 10 men Suva side defeated Rewa 1-0 in the National soccer league last night.
Defender Samuela Vula was sent off in the dying stages of the first half.
Joseph Mishra scored for Suva in the second half which means Suva now has 9 points behind Rewa with 10 while the capital city side will host Nadroga at the National Stadium this Sunday.

The win has put Rewa on top of the points table with seven points.

Ba bounce back 11 March 2012
Ba soccer team bounced back after their loss to Rewa to beat Navua 2-1 in the National Soccer League match at Thompson Park.
Ba opened the scoring in the first Half through stylish midfielder, Malakai Tiwa.
The hosts came back strongly after the breather and equalized but Tiwa, who missed the game against Rewa proved to be the savior as he scored the winner to make it 2-1.
In the other matches played today, Nadi surprised Lautoka 1-0 with a first half goal from Veresa Toma while Suva maintained its winning form defeating Tavua 3-1 at National Stadium.
The Nadroga and Savusavu match had to be postponed after 7 Stallions players were kept under observation at the Labasa hospital last night due to a viral infection illness in the camp.

7 Nadroga soccer players under observation at Labasa hospital 11 March 2012
Seven Nadroga soccer players were kept under observation at the Labasa hospital last night due to a viral infection illness in the camp.
This has been confirmed by Nadroga Soccer President Dr. Dhiren Lal.
The Nadroga side was to face Savusavu in a National Soccer League match this afternoon and Lal confirmed that the match has been postponed.
National Football League board chairman, Shiek Ibrahim visited the hospital last night and later confirmed the postponement of Nadroga’s league fixture against Savusavu.
Ibrahim said when he visited the hospital four players were being attended by the doctors and was told that few after observation have been sent back to camp and there were few more to be attended.
Nadroga side is currently in Vanua Levu for their two encounters against Labasa and Savusavu.
The team played against Labasa yesterday afternoon and the match ended in a 2-all draw.
Meanwhile, at 3pm today Lautoka will host Nadi at Churchill Park, Suva will host Tavua at the National Stadium while at the same time Navua will host Ba at Thompson Park.

Labasa holds Nadroga 10 March 2012
A penalty to Labasa in the dying moments of the National soccer league match against Nadroga saved the day for the Babasiga Lions as they managed to hold the Nadroga onslaught 2-2.
Labasa was leading 1-0 at half time when Under-20 player Apisai Sesawa found the back of the net in the second minute.
Nadroga replied in the second half and scored two goals through Vinit Singh and Isikeli Jeke Kele.
Few minutes from full time Labasa were awarded a penalty and Sesawa again scored to level the scores 2-all.

Rewa shocks Ba 09 March 2012
The Rewa soccer team denied all odds to shock high flying Ba 1-0 at Govind Park in the feature match of the National Soccer League.
The Delta Tigers stepped up their performance from last week and scored the lone goal of the match in the 18th minute of the first half through Epeli Saukuru.
The men in black with the services of Osea Vakatalesau, Avinesh Waran Swamy, Tuimasi Manuca, Roneel Kumar and Alvin Singh tried hard to come back into the game after their classy win over Waitakere United 3-2 in the O-League but the man of the match performance by Reds goalkeeper Epeli Levaniceva denied them from finding the back of the net.
The visitors with Lorima Dau, Posiano Kalesito and Iosefo Verevou defended well throughout the match.

After the first round of league matches, Fiji FA National League Board secretary Jainendra Sukhu said by looking at the results of some matches, it is clear that coaches and team management need to work harder to lift their performances.
He added that the Ba soccer team is in top form and closer to them is Lautoka.
He also said many teams also lack finishing as players missed a number of goals during the league matches.

Navua without key players against Suva 01 March 2012
The Navua soccer team will take on Suva tomorrow in the National soccer league competition without many familiar faces who have been part of the side in the past years.
Missing from the line-up is goalkeeper, Ben Aminio and Pranil Chand while new president, Gopal Naidu and coach, Ramesh Chandra will be in the limelight for the first time since taking over the reigns from Anil Sharma.
Suva will play Navua at 7.30pm tomorrow at the TFL National stadium.
At 3.30pm this Saturday, Rewa will take on Nadi in the feature match and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station, Radio Sargam.

Drudru to debut for Suva 01 March 2012
Former Nadroga soccer mid-fielder, Samuela Drudru will be the one to watch when he debuts for Suva tomorrow in the National soccer league competition.
Drudru has been Nadroga's strongest arm in the previous years and his inclusion in the Suva team now is expected to bring in the much needed spark that has been missing for some time.
Suva will play Navua at 7.30pm tomorrow at the TFL National stadium.

Bainivalu to debut for Nadi 29 feb 2012
Upcoming defender Poasa Bainivalu will debut for the Nadi soccer team against Rewa this Saturday in the Fiji Sun, GP Batteries National Soccer League competition.
19 year old Bainivalu who led his Central College Under 19 soccer team to win its first ever secondary schools soccer championship last year, also cemented his place in the Lautoka soccer team as one of their top defenders.
The first round of matches will see Nadi hosting Rewa at Prince Charles Park this Saturday at 3.30pm with the live commentary on Radio Sargam.
Other matches will see Tavua up against Labasa and Savusavu, Suva will host Navua and Lautoka will play Nadroga.

Labasa soccer response on duo 29 Feb 2012
The Rewa soccer team will know by this afternoon whether they can field two former Labasa soccer players in Saturday's National soccer league match against Nadi.
The Fiji Football Association has received a response from Labasa football in relation to Kavaia Rawaqa and Ilisoni Logaivou's case.
The Labasa soccer association is not releasing the two players claiming both players are still contracted with the Babasiga Lions.

NSL to kick off this weekend 28 Feb 2012
The feature match of the Fiji Sun, GP Batteries National Soccer League competition could be played this Saturday.
League Board Secretary Jainendra Sukhu said they do not want this match to clash with the Ba and Waitakere United O-League match which will be played on Sunday at Govind Park.
He added arrangements are now being made for the official opening of league to be done on Saturday at Prince Charles Park followed by the Rewa and Nadi match.
In other national soccer league matches this week, Tavua will be hosted by Labasa and Savusavu, Suva will take on Navua and Nadroga will play Lautoka.

5 likely to debut for Rewa 27 Feb 2012
Five renowned soccer players are highly likely to debut for Rewa in the opening round of the GP Batteries, Fiji Sun National Soccer League this week.
Rewa Soccer Association has got the clearance of Navua midfielder Pranil Kumar and now is waiting for the release of Suva’s Apisai Smith and Labasa’s Taione Kerevanua, Ilisoni Logaivou and Kavaia Rawaqa.
Meanwhile, Lautoka’s Poasa Banivalu has been cleared to feature for Nadi this week.
In the National Soccer League matches this week: Nadi will play Rewa, Tavua will be hosted by Labasa and Savusavu, Nadroga will play Lautoka and Suva will host Navua.
