Prisoner Unconscious,Fights For life

Medical authorities have confirmed that Prisoner Josefa Baleiloa who was recaptured in Cunningham last Thursday is still unconscious and is fighting for his life at the CWM hospital.

General Manager CWM Hospital Doctor Eloni Tora told Fijivillage this morning that Baleiloa sustained multiple injuries to his head, ribs and other parts of the body.

Doctor Tora said the injuries are visible and he is on continuous drips and on life support unit.

According to him Baleiloa was carrying the injuries when he was first brought to hospital by officers from the Strike Back team.

Meanwhile, Police Director Operations SSP Waisea Tabakau said excessive force was used on Baleiloa because he resisted arrest and wanted to stab police officers with a kitchen knife.

SSP Tabakau said the public should understand that Baleiloa is a very violent prisoner and he should not have resisted arrest in the first place.
