More than 19,000 drivers have been booked for speeding since the beginning of the year.
According to the National Traffic Control Centre 19,115 drivers have been booked for speeding despite repeated advisories as of yesterday.
Other offences recorded since the beginning of the year to date include 973 for not wearing seat Belt, 1,083 for careless driving, 948 for carrying excess passengers, 201 for driving without a license, 534 for Illegal Operations while 370 were booked for drunk driving.
National Traffic Control Centre Director SSP Mahesh Mishra said speeding and drunk driving continues to be the leading cause of deaths on our roads.
The road death toll currently stands at 15 as it did for the same period last year.
