A total of $1.2 million was put back in consumers’ pockets after 2,232 consumer complaints were resolved in 2012.
This is according to Consumer Council CEO Premila Kumar who highlights how consumers lose close to $3 million a year to unfair trade practices.
Kumar said the rise in the number of enquires made to the Council is also reflective of how consumers are understanding their rights better and are seeking redress if they are dissatisfied with a product or service.
Meanwhile, of the complaints raised to the council, the Landlord/Tenant still rank the highest in 2012 with Electronic Goods as second and Mobile Products as third highest.
