PSC formalizes base grade officers’ pay
A circular has been released by the Public Service Commission formalizing the salary and wages increase of base grade officers as announced by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in the 2013 National Budget address.

The pay increase is effective from January 1st 2013 and will see an upgrade of salaries for established officers to a minimum of $10,000 per annum which will be the starting salary for entry level officers.

There will also be a 10% rise for government wage earners earning below $10,000 per annum.

The pay increase will not be backdated.

Officers affected include permanent officers on probation, officers serving local contract terms, temporary officers including temporary relievers, government wage earners and project officers.

The salary adjustment will benefit at least 1,663 salaried civil servants and 2,878 government wage earners.
