PM tours school of maritime
The school of Maritime is running at a loss close to $1 million, this revealed by Vice Chancellor of Fiji National University Ganesh Chand to PM Commodore Voreqe Bainimara whilst on a tour of the school.

The only other source of revenue he says is from Government, aid and student fees.

On tour Commodore Bainimara has also instructed the Naval Division to work with Fiji National University’s School of Maritime Studies school in carrying out maintenance works after noticing the untidiness and lack of care and maintenance of the school=s classrooms.

There are also plans to upgrade the school’s current facilities and also purchase new training equipment.

Chand said that they also wish to build another workshop for the engineering students at the school but this will be subject to funding.

The Prime Minister heard that the School of Maritime Studies also needed trainers who could bring new and innovative ideas to the school.

Commodore Bainimarama was accompanied by the Transport Minister Timoci Natuva and the Permanent Secretary Francis Kean.
