The Fiji Chamber of Commerce is calling on the government to link import substitution with agriculture.
While Finance Minister Commodore Vorege Bainimarama is preparing to deliver the 2010 National Budget on Friday, Chamber president Swani Maharaj said import substitution will help the country's economy.
He said a good example of this can be potato.
Maharaj said the government should look into regenerating the construction industry by providing some interest rebate to anyone who builds a building worth between half a million to 20 million dollars for the first five years.
