Close to 50 single women and widows in the Wainadoi and Nabukavesi community have a reason to smile after they received food assistance from members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church this afternoon.
Member of the church Ravuni Uluilakeba said they have decided to carry out the assistance after earlier assessments that many families with widows and single mothers in the community struggle to make ends meet for their daily survival, they have joined hands with TFL, Total Event Company, Pasifika and CJ Patel to provide 50 baskets of groceries to these families.
Uluilekaba said that it is important to help out and care for the less fortunate people and to remind them that they are not forgotten.
Uluilakeba said the church is also assisting everyone in the community who is in need irrespective of their race or religion, to spread the message that people should care for one another in a community irrespective of their beliefs.
Last Sunday they served more than 120 people and four doctors who are members of the church assisted in blood pressure checkups, blood tests, dental treatment and had general sessions on understanding the basic health needs.
