The Government is still weighing out whether locals should be allowed access to Fiji’s first ever Casino set to be developed in Denarau next year.
Permanent Secretary for Tourism Elizabeth Powell said they are still looking at the advantages of allowing locals access to the casino against the need to protect the more vulnerable segments of the community from gambling.
Powell said they will announce the decision when the laws have been finalized.
The government had issued the casino licence to an American company One hundred Sands Limited on Wednesday.
The construction of the Casino will cost $290 million where more than 800 jobs are expected to be created.
The casino is expected to be completed by September 2013.
