Induction prevented due to court case
The Induction Service for the senior appointments of the Methodist Church Ministers was stopped on Sunday by the Military and Police.

Military Spokesperson Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni confirmed the church ministers, which includes the President Reverend Ame Tugawe and General Secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu are currently involved in court proceedings and thus the two could not go through the Induction Service.

Leweni said this can only happen after the completion of the proceedings.

Tugawe, Waqairatu and seven other ministers and officials are charged with participating in church meetings in contravention of the Public Emergency Regulations.

Meanwhile, Acting General Secretary for the Methodist Church Reverend Tevita Nawadra said it is not known when the court proceedings will end after which the Induction Service will convene.
