A top women’s Fiji volleyball player was denied a visa this morning to travel to Australia for the buildup matches to next year's World Cup qualifiers.
Ana Vuniwaqa who was part of Fiji's silver medal team in last year's Pacific Games in Samoa will miss the trip because of her links to a high ranking officer in the Fiji Military Force.
Fiji volleyball team coach Varanisese Maraiwai said now they will only be taking 14 players on the 10 day tour.
The Fiji Women’s Volleyball team has for the first time ever got an opportunity to compete in the World Cup qualification tournament, which will be in Japan next year.
The 14-member squad will depart tomorrow morning for Australia and will play 10 build-up matches.
