Fiji U20 players will not receive allowances
The Fiji Rugby Union is clarifying why the national Under 20 players to the Junior World Cup in France will not receive any allowances.

General Manager High Performance Unit Mike Ryan said the Under 20 team is a development side and the Junior World Cup is an opportunity for them to showcase their talents to the clubs, provinces and scouts from various overseas clubs and provinces that will be at the tournament.

He added that other unions including New Zealand, Tonga and Samoa do not pay their Under 20 players any allowances.

Ryan stresses there were many costs involved in preparing the Under 20s for the Junior World Cup.

Meanwhile, the national Under 20 is pooled with Australia, Ireland and last year's finalist New Zealand.

The side will leave for France on Monday.
