Kelera Saukuru had a hard time making ends meet after she was made redundant last year after working for 17 years.
Saukuru was one of the 73 employees sent home immediately without a package after Tropical cyclone Evan hit the resort they worked in.
For the 38-year-old mother of three, her struggle's started just as families in the village of Lauwaki were getting ready to celebrate Christmas.
Today Saukuru is still job hunting yet is grateful to the Minister of Labour for intervening and ensuring she was paid a redundancy package.
The Ministry helped to recover $185, 339.92 in arrears for the wages of the 73 redundant resort workers.
