Hundreds of people were at Nadi Airport to welcome the arrival of the second Fiji Airways A330 named Namuka-I-Lau.
While welcoming the new aircraft Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said the new fleet of A330 is a key in bringing millions of visitors to our shores in the coming years.
The Prime Minister said with these new planes, Fiji Airways gains a greater ability to compete against its rivals.
The airline will be starting its A330 service to Sydney in a couple of weeks, to add to those already operating to Auckland, Brisbane and Hong Kong.
And soon, the new aircraft will begin flying to Los Angeles, with extra services coming on stream later in the year when the third and final Airbus arrives and the 747s are retired.
The three A330-200s are valued in the Airbus catalogue at a total price of FJD$1.069 billion.
On the 26th of next month, Air Pacific will formally become Fiji Airways.
Meanwhile, masi designer Makereta Matemosi, her four children and her husband were also part of the A330’s delivery flight home.
