Concerns raised over drowning numbers
Concerns have been raised on the number of people who have lost their lives due to drowning this year which stands at 67 compared to 38 last year.

A 5-year-old was found floating in a creek about 100 meters away from her residence at Vunutukara Settlement, Koroboya on Thursday afternoon.

The girl went missing from home while her mother was feeding her other daughter and was later discovered floating in the creek.

Parents have been urged to keep an eye on their children during this festive season.

In another incident a 20-year-old woman was swept by strong currents in Wailoa River in Monasavu yesterday.

She was rushed to the nearest health center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
