A study needs to be carried out on the impact domestic violence has on children.
This is according to Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator Shamima Ali with recent statistics revealing 61% of women or mothers being subjected to some form of domestic violence.
Ali said though there is no existing data on the impact of domestic violence on children, the 29 years of their work is testament to its devastation.
Ali said the years of their work have also revealed that not many boys who are exposed to domestic violence grow up to be abusive husbands.
She added some women who have had abusive fathers are often tolerant of abusive husbands.
Meanwhile, a full analysis on the National Survey of Domestic Violence is expected to be launched by September this year.
