In commemorating World Biodiversity Day, the government has also launched the National Environment Celebrations campaign to mark the collaborative approach between government and Non Governmental Organizations.
Speaking at the launch today, Minister for Environment Colonel Samuela Saumatua said the campaign is the first of its kind in terms of integrating all environmental events into a national environment celebrations campaign.
Meanwhile, Director of Environment Jope Davetanivalu said the government is aware of the importance of the environment and therefore people should take more responsibility to care for it.
Also today, the Nature Fiji Mareqeti Viti presented the first ever report of the state of birds in Fiji.
The celebration is inclusive of different programs and activities promoting the safeguarding of Fiji’s environment throughout the year.
