The interim government is expected to try and amend the laws surrounding child labour in the country to allow children between the ages of 13 and 15 to work in various sectors.
Permanent Secretary for Labour Taito Waqa said Interim Minister Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi will meet with a high powered ILO delegation in Suva on Monday to discuss child labour in some areas.
Waqa stressed that children will be allowed to carry out community and religious work as long as it does not interfere with their studies.
The ILO delegation is expected in the country over the weekend.
