The Fiji Police Force does not have enough vehicles to effectively police all the required areas.
This is the revelation from Police Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua when Fijivillage asked him if the force is facing a shortage of vehicles.
Naivalurua said they need more vehicles but also specialized vehicles that will help to carry out operations.
He added they need specialized wheels like a command vehicle that must have communication systems, vehicles that are able to take officers over the hills, vehicles for administration purposes and troop carrying vehicles.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Naivalurua said he wants strong people in the force to put up the fight against crime.
While speaking at the National Community Police Symposium today, he told the participants from around the country that it will be a hard fight ahead.
Naivalurua also stressed that it should be a combined effort by all against crime as he cannot do things alone.
