A team of 40 police officers are also helping out in rehabilitation and relief efforts in the Western Division.
According to ACP Rusiate Tudravu the officers will conduct mobile patrols, undertake rescue operations when required, support friendly forces, and provide second line support to the current Western Disaster Operational team.
Tudravu also stressed that police visibility will be beefed up and those who disregard the law will face the consequences of their actions.
People he said have already suffered enough which is why we don't want criminal elements to add more grief to those who have been affected.
