A Tropical Disturbance is currently located to the far northwest of Fiji and may intensify further into a Tropical Depression and then to a cyclone however it will not directly affect Fiji.
The system is currently located about 600km west-northwest of Rotuma and is expected to slip southward as it deepens before passing to the southwest of Viti Levu.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said while the system is not expected to directly impact Fiji based on its current path and distance, it will bring strong winds and increasing rain tomorrow and Thursday.
Waqaicelua said flooding is a possibility as they continue to monitor the Tropical Disturbance.
The likelihood of this system deepening to reach tropical cyclone status in the next 72 hours is now upgraded to moderate.
