Siata to create history in Moscow

Siata to create history in Moscow
Priscilla Siata will create history in a number of ways when she dons the National jumper for the Fiji women’s rugby side in Moscow next week.

Siata who is the 7th child in a family of nine is the first Fijian of Solomon descent to captain a national side.

The 26-year-old from Wailailai village in Levuka, Ovalau is part of the first Fijiana side to feature in the World Cup.

Siata made her debut for Fiji at the 2011 Pacific Games and was part of the side that took part in the Women’s World Series in China this year.

The former Saint James Primary and Levuka Public School student said she played netball and hockey in school before taking up rugby in 2010 when she was at the Fiji National University.

Siata said to captain the national side after just two years of playing rugby is an achievement especially when she has blood ties to the Solomon Islands.

Siata who plays as a prop added they want to be part of the World Series next year.

The Fijiana side is pooled with USA, Spain and Brazil.

Meanwhile, the Fiji men’s 7s team will play Tonga at 12.28am next Saturday in their first pool match.

Fiji then take on Uruguay at 6.28pm next Saturday and Fiji’s last pool match is against Wales at 12.42am Sunday.

The Cup quarterfinals start at 9pm Sunday, the Cup semis kick off at 12.40am Monday while the World Cup 7s final will start at 4.55am Monday.
