Flying Fijians status will not devalue-Waqabaca

Flying Fijians status will not devalue-Waqabaca
Chairman of the Fiji Rugby Union Filimoni Waqabaca stressed that bringing in the Classical All Blacks to play the Flying Fijians will not devalue their status.

Fijivillage raised this to the Chairman in an exclusive interview.

Waqabaca said they cannot get other national teams like New Zealand and Australia after they have already set their long term plans which cannot be changed by a short notice invitation.

In August last year, the Fiji Rugby Union wrote to the New Zealand Rugby Union and other leading nations in seeking agreement for a test to fittingly mark the FRU 100th Anniversary.

However, Fiji Rugby Union's offer was rejected as the All Blacks have a full test programme for 2013 with 13 games scheduled.

Fiji received similar responses from the other nations they contacted.

Waqabaca said playing the Classical All Blacks will at least allow the local fans to see some stars like Fijian born Sitiveni Sivivatu and Joe Rokocoko, Chris Masoe, Jerome Kaino, as well as veterans Carlos Spencer and Justin Marshall.
