8,016 people are in 137 evacuation centres around the country.

The current numbers will be revealed later today as some people are now returning to their homes.

People in the northern division are slowly working on ensuring that things return to normal.

But the government said it is early days yet with the assessment team yet to make their first initial damage assessment in the affected areas.
