24 percent decrease in drug abuse in schools
There has been a 24 percent decrease in drugs and substance abuse cases in schools around the country.

This has been revealed by National Substance Abuse Advisory Council director Misaele Driubalavu during a cheque presentation by Bank of Baroda this afternoon.

Driubalavu said between 2004 and 2010, tobacco use had decreased by 7 percent, alcohol use decreased by 13 percent, kava by 16 percent and marijuana by 8 percent.

The International Day Against Drugs and Illicit Drug Trafficking will be celebrated next week and Driubalavu said the $800 donation by the Bank of Baroda will be go towards the Flag Competition organized by the council for all secondary schools.
