It is a proud moment for the people of Lautoka after Jasper William High School created history in the 2013 Coca-Cola Games by winning the girl’s division title.
Lautoka City Special Administrator Praveen Bala said they will be meeting to plan for the official celebrations.
He said there is a joyful mood in Lautoka.
This is the first time ever for the Coke Games girl’s title to go to Lautoka after Jasper ended Adi Cakobau School’s impressive 12 year winning run.
Jasper coach Antonio Raboiliku said they cannot describe the feeling but he is so thankful for what has happened.
According to Raboiliku, the girls have put in so much effort for the Coke Games although Jasper suffered the most amount of damage after Tropical Cyclone Evan in the Western Division.
Jasper won the girls division with 9 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze.
Xavier College finishd in second place with 6 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
ACS finished in third place with 4 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze.
Saint Josephs Secondary got 4 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze.
Gospel High School finished in fifth place with 3 gold and 1 silver.
Natabua followed them with 2 gold and 2 silver.
In the boy’s division, Marist Brothers High School successfully retained their title with 11 gold, 7 silver and 1 bronze.
Suva Grammar finished in second place with 6 gold , 4 silver and 4 bronze.
Queen Victoria School finished in third place with 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze while Xavier College finished fourth place with 5 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze.
Marist Brothers High School team manager Navitalai Waiwalu said their strategies worked well.
Waiwalu said defending the boy’s division title was not an easy task.
