8 houses lose their roofs in Galoa
The roofs of eight houses in Galoa, Navua, have been blown away.

A resident Raman Lal said the families have been evacuated to the community hall.

He said coconut and mango trees have fallen and the river is also rising.

Another resident of Tokotoko, Navua, Vijendra Prasad said that part of his kitchen blew away this afternoon and he has taken shelter with his family at his neighbour’s house.

He said at this time people should just think about saving their lives instead of saving their belongings.

Meanwhile, the Advisory Councillor of Wainadoi in Navua Iman Ali said that two evacuation centres are now open in Navua and some families are taking shelter at these centres.

He said a family of five had to leave their house after the roof of their house blew away due to strong winds.

It is raining heavily in Navua and strong winds can be experienced.
