Nadi Town is expected to be closed from later this afternoon if the effects of Tropical Cyclone Evan worsen as it is projected to approach the Western Division.
Nadi Town Council CEO Nemia Tagi said most shops have already closed today with only a few open.
Tagi said the shops and market vendors have been preparing for flooding.
Meanwhile, villagers of Dratabu in Nadi are bracing themselves for the worst effects of Tropical Cyclone Evan.
High chief of Dratabu in Nadi Ratu Meli Saukuru said they have been experiencing strong winds and rain from nine this morning however there have been no damages or flooding yet.
He said they still have water and power supply however are expecting damages from this afternoon.
Saukuru added three evacuation centers in the area have been activated and they are making all the necessary preparations.
