A representative of the United Front for a Democratic Fiji and proposed Social Democratic and Liberal Party official Doctor Tupeni Baba said they will continue to ask for the Yash Ghai Commission draft constitution when they present their petition to the government later this month.
Doctor Baba said the government’s draft is prepared by people who do not know politics.
He said having provisions that 75 percent of the parliamentarians and 75 percent of the people who vote in a referendum need to agree to any changes in the new constitution, is unacceptable.
Doctor Baba also said Commodore Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum should just go back to the Yash Ghai Commission draft.
He said they also want a caretaker government before the 2014 elections.
Sayed-Khaiyum has already said that people should not just personalize issues when looking at the draft constitution.
He also said the politicians should just make their submissions on the draft constitution rather than making personal attacks.
He confirmed that there will be no caretaker government and the current government will take Fiji to elections as seen in the past.
