To avoid the repeated embarrassment of last year’s prisoner escapes, the Fiji Corrections Service are returning to the basics.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Commissioner of Prisons Lt Colonel Ifereimi Vasu said for him the issue of escapees is a major concern and they are taking every necessary step to prevent escapes from taking place in the future.
In relation to the escape of five prisoners in September last year, two Fiji Corrections Service officers were dishonorably discharge after the finding of a tribunal.
