Commodore Bainimarama highlighted that the initial damage assessment should be done as quick as possible so that early decisions can be made on relief efforts and restoration of Water and Electricity services should be top priority.

The PM was further briefed on areas concerning disaster management including deployment of the armed forces, contingency plans by the public utilities sector and the operations of health services across the country.
