As the final day of competition in the 2013 Coca-Cola Games kicks off this morning, the race is wide open in both divisions as a number of medals scattered amongst many schools yesterday.
Defending champion in the boys division, Marist Brothers High School currently lead the Fijivillage medal tally with 4 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze.
QVS is in second place with 4 gold.
Xavier College is in third place with 2 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
Suva Grammar is in fourth place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
Meanwhile defending champion in the girls division, Adi Cakobau School leads with 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
Jasper Williams High is in second place with 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
Xavier College is in third place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze while Saint Josephs Secondary School is in fourth place with 2 gold and 1 silver.
11 Coca-Cola Games records tumbled yesterday as athletes lift the bar in the different events to deliver outstanding performances at the ANZ Stadium.
34 gold medals are at stake on the tracks on the final day while 14 are available in the field events.
Looking at the 100 metres finals:
Savusavu's Beniamino Maravu of Saint Bedes College has been crowned as the blue ribbon event champion after winning the senior boys 100 metres final of the 2013 Coca Cola Games.
Maravu who was carrying a hamstring said he did not believe it when he crossed the finish line first.
The form 7 student and head boarder of Saint Bedes College dedicated this win to his father who passed away last year and also to his mother who supports him all the way.
Waisake Raselala of Sila Central College had to settle for silver while Francis Kirikirikula of Suva Grammar School took the bronze.
In the senior girls 100 metres final, Sisilia Sevula of Saint Josephs Secondary School won the title after beating Timaima Qica of Sila Central College who settled for silver while favourite, Elenoa Sailosi of Adi Cakobau School took the bronze.
Seavula who was emotional after the race said this will be double celebration for her as her mother's birthday is coming up.
Sisilia's dad was police officer, Filipe Seavula who was killed by rebels during the 2000 coup and she always maintains that she wants to do well for her late father.
Seavula said this will not be her final year as she is planning to do form 7 in Saint Josephs Secondary School next year.
In the intermediate grade, Gospel High School sprinters managed to win their respective finals as predicted.
Younis Bese of Gospel High School won gold, Vasemaca Radinilagi of Jasper Williams High School settled for silver while Mereisi Naite of Solevu Junior Secondary took the bronze.
Aaron Powell won gold for Gospel High School in the Intermediate Boys 100 metres final, Jacob Waqanivalu of Suva Grammar School took silver while Taniela Kepa of Lautoka Muslim College settled for bronze.
The 200 metres finals will also be exciting later today.
The heats in the 200 metres saw some close finishes however the most significant one was Adi Cakobau School's sprint queen, Elenoa Sailosi and Saint Josephs Secondary School's Sisilia Seavula losing in their heat.
They were beaten by Sila Central's Timaima Qica.
However both Seavula and Sailosi have made it to the finals today.
The other tussle was between Gospel High School's Aaron Powell and Grammar's Jacob Waqanivalu in the Intermediate Boys 200 metres heat.
They were in the same heat and Powell won the close race.
Both have qualified for the final.
In the Senior Boys 200 metres, Beniamino Maravu of Saint Bedes College came in first in his heat as he looks good to win gold again in this event.
Sila Central's Waisake Raselala and Suva Grammar's, Francis Kirikirikula also look good as they won their respective heats.
Grammar's Kemueli Waqa is also in the finals.
Looking at the 400 metres finals last night:
Setaita Kini of Xavier College won gold in the Sub Junior Girls final, Mereia Naceva from Cuvu College took silver while bronze went to Kalesi Bua of Vishnu Deo College.
In the Sub Junior Boys 400 metres final, Osea Baleinamau won gold with a record time of 58.54 seconds, Sairusi Naliva of Xavier took silver while Taitusi Lulusini of Cuvu College settled for bronze.
In the Junior Girls 400 metres, Abbygale Tikoisuva of Natabua High took out the gold medal, Emma Navukula of ACS settled for silver while Laisana Likuceva of Jasper William High took bronze.
In the Junior Boys final, Apolosi Ranawai won gold for QVS in a record time of 51 seconds. Silver went to Tony Hiriasia of Marist and Grammar's Phillippe Cirikiwai took the bronze medal.
In the Intermediate Girls 400 metres final, Mereseini Vukici of Jasper Williams High won gold, Alaiwalu Raiyawa of ACS took silver while bronze went to Orbelle Kelepi of Holy Cross College.
In the Intermediate Boys 400 metres final, Natabua's Batinisuva Uluiyata won gold and set a new record with a time of 48.76 seconds.
Saula Nodrakoro of Beqa Yanuca took silver while bronze went to Lorima Toga of Penang Sangam.
It was a close tussle in the 400 metres Senior Girls and Boys finals.
Miriama Senokonoko took gold in the Senior Girls, silver went to Sereima Liku of Jasper while bronze went to Naomi Tawake of Ballentine Memorial School.
Grammar's Kemueli Waqa won gold in the Senior Boys 400 metres.
Natabua's Sailosi Niuvati took silver while bronze went to Nicholas Korovulavula of Yasayasa Moala College.
The final day of the Coca-Cola Games kick off with the 4x100 metre heats at 8.50 this morning.
At 10.40am, we will have the 800 metres finals.
The 200 metres finals start at 11.40am, the 4x100 metres finals commence at 12.40pm today while the 4x400 metres finals start at 2pm.
