51 evacuation centres in Labasa as well as in Bua and Cakaudrove are on standby and ready to be activated.
This is according to Divisional Planning Officer Northern Alipate Bola who also added that all necessary resources are now being prepared in the northern division for Tropical cyclone Evan.
Briefings have also been done with the Divisional Police Commander, divisional fire officer, health ministry, military personnel involved in emergency operations, heads of town councils and Chamber of Commerce on the necessary preparations to be done.
Labasa Businessman Paul Jaduram said that the shop keepers and rate payers have been informed to prepare themselves and the Fire Department and stakeholders have also been reminded of their duties during this time.
