The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre will today present a petition to the Papua New Guinea High Commission in relation to the increasing violence against Women in PNG.
Coordinator Shamima Ali said the petition is in solidarity with women and girls of PNG calling an end to violence against women and girls.
Ali said this is especially against sorcery related killings where women are being murdered accused of sorcery.
She said these issues have an impact on the Pacific.
Meanwhile, a series of sit-ins and protests have been held through the night across Papua New Guinea to highlight on the issue of increasing violence against women.
The PNG government has promised action, including plans to start enforcing the death penalty.
