32 Gold Medals At Stake At FMF Chow Games

A total of 32 gold medals will be at stake on the opening day of the FMF Chow Primary Schools Athletics finals at the National Stadium this morning.

Suva is the defending champions in both grades and they have established themselves as the favourites to retain the title again this year.

A strong challenge is expected from former champions Ra who have kept a low profile in their preparations this year.

Also districts like Cakaudrove, Bua, Macuata, Nadroga, Lautoka and outer island like Kadavu and Koro have come in full force to try and dethrone Suva in front of their home crowd.

The sugar city team after wrapping up their preparations yesterday remains confident of their chances.

Lautoka girls captain, 14-year-old Phylis Cheer says the 127 athletes are ready to burn the Laucala tracks.

The first event will start at 9am with the Girls Long Jump finals and on the tracks it will be the Girls 1500 metres finals in the Under 12 grade.
