Man caught illegally connecting water supply
A man has been found obtaining money from Water Authority of Fiji customers and illegally connecting their supply to the Authority's water system.

Water Authority of Fiji Fraud Risk Management Unit Team Leader Josaia Sadole said residents staying in Waidamudamu, 10 miles in Suva have been paying the man close to $100 for connecting their supply. 
 
Sadole the individual was illegally connecting customers' connections through the use of the Authority's application forms.

He said a police complaint would be lodged once the Fraud Risk Management Unit has collated all the relevant information. 

Chief Executive Officer Opetaia Ravai said customers must always make their payments at any WAF office nationwide to ensure a receipt is issued after payments.  

Ravai also said people should refrain from giving money to individuals for connecting to the Authority's water reticulation system, as it may be illegally done.

He said the public must also demand the individual's staff identification card to confirm if they are employees of the Authority.
